The standards specify the test methods for evaluating the fatigue performance of tibial trays in knee prostheses, which support and protect the plastic articular surfaces. These methods apply to tibial trays that cover both the medial and lateral tibial condyles. The test involves cantilever loading at a frequency not exceeding 10 Hz, with an R-ratio of 0.1, and is conducted for 5 million cycles or until the specimen fails.
